Hi there!
I'm Sam, a director, playwright, and theatre educator located in the DC area. I like baking (and eating) bread, thinking about representation of marginalized groups in the media, creating theatrical sensory experiences for the very young, and doing jigzaw puzzles. My pronouns are they/them.

Artistic Statement

I write and direct new plays that illuminate the complex weirdo lives of queers, non-binary folks, and women. Both my 10-minute plays and my one-acts juxtapose comedy and tragedy, quirk and gravity. I write to connect with other queers who don't see themselves represented on stage, and I direct to accurately and lovingly interpret stories by those in my communities.

Upcoming Projects

The new session of early childhood classes at Imagination Stage begins soon, during which I'll be teaching several You & Me classes for 1-2 year-olds and their grown-ups, as well as creative drama classes for 3-4 year-olds.
I'm also completing the first draft of Shirt Too Big, or Do You Like It?, a full-length version of a 20-minute play I was commissioned to write for the NextNOW Alumni Play Commission in 2016
